Somerville City Councilor Will Mbah Receives Back-To-Back Endorsements From Progressive Organizations

SOMERVILLE–Will Mbah, running for re-election as an At-Large Somerville City Councilor, received two key endorsements this month from Democracy for America and Our Revolution Somerville. These two progressive organizations have endorsed a slate of inspiring candidates up and down the ballot this month.

Mbah is running for re-election as the only person of color on the City Council and, as a recent immigrant, he feels these important perspectives bring value to city government where it is lacking.

“These leaders hail from cities large and small and share a deep commitment to the kind of bold, inclusive populist agenda we need to transform this country,” stated Democracy for America.

“I am extremely honored to have these endorsements and humbled to join such an impressive array of progressive candidates,” said Mbah. “This will definitely help build even more momentum on what has already been such an exciting campaign.”

Throughout Mbah’s first term in office he has held true to all of the progressive values and promises he espoused during his 2017 campaign. Mbah has fought to keep Somerville affordable, sustainable, and equitable by passing a transfer fee to fund affordable housing, strengthening the condo conversion ordinance to protect vulnerable citizens and cut down on speculation, cracking down on AirBnB rentals to put more rental properties back on the market, funding the newly created Office of Housing Stability, regulating plastic straw use, and pressing the city to study how they can help minority owned businesses across Somerville deeply affected by gentrification.

Mbah still has plenty more he wants to accomplish and is thrilled about using this endorsement to grow this campaign and make sure he gets his message out to every person in Somerville. The campaign is run by countless energized and passionate volunteers who believe in Will and his vision for Somerville.
